Access Statement for Heathcliff House Introduction We aim to cater for the needs of all guests who stay with us in our 9 bedroom 4 star Guest Accommodation. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help. Pre-Arrival *There is a bus stop outside and opposite our entrance and the service is frequent. Arrival & Car Parking Facilities *On Arrival to our property there is a large entrance which is not restricted at any time. Main Entrance & Reception *There is one step 16cm high leading to the front door with a further step at the front door 14cm high. We have a temporary ramp available if requested (let us know if you need this prior to arrival). *The front door which is 114cm wide is normally kept closed and has a door bell at 147cm high. *On entry into our home there is an entrance lobby 2.5mtrs x 1.5mtrs leading to an inner door 105cm wide. *All floor coverings in all public areas including corridors and stairs are of short pile carpet. *The reception area is beyond the inner front door 4.2mtrs x 2mtrs with a small reception desk at 104cm high. Public Areas – General *Our corridors to the ground floor and lower ground floor are 125cm wide. *Corridors are of good light contrasting colours and are well lit. *There are 15 stairs with handrail that leads to the dining room which is on the lower ground floor. The stairs are 19cm high, 26cm deep and 70cm wide. *There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor and a bar lounge. *There are 15 stairs with handrail measuring 16cm high, 30cm deep, 99cm wide to a half landing 1.8mtrs x 2.4mtrs. *From the half landing there is one stair 17cm high x 80cm wide leading to the front landing where there are a further two double rooms. * From this front landing there are two stairs 17cm high, 22cm deep, 64cm wide onto a small landing 88cm x 148cm and then 14 stairs 16cm high, 25cm deep, 64cm deep that lead back down to the ground floor which passes room one. *Also from the half landing there are 8 stairs with handrail 16cm high, 30cm deep, 93cm wide leading to the first floor landing. *From this landing there is access to five bedrooms (two family rooms, two double rooms and a twin room). Public Areas – WC *All bedrooms are en-suite (bath or shower with WC). *There is no separate public WC available. Dining Room & Bar Lounge *Breakfast is served in the dining room on the lower ground floor. There are 15 stairs as detailed above. *Breakfast will be served in the bar lounge for people who are unable to make the stairs. *Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. *There are two sized tables with underspace of 73cm high and 57cm/95cm wide and a height of 76cm. *Chairs are without arms which can be moved to accommodate. *We play background music in the dining room which is normally local radio. *The bar lounge is accessed from the reception area on the ground floor through an 86cm door. *The bar itself is L shaped with a height of 96cm. *Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. *There are four bar stools that rotate with a seating height of 71cm, a three piece suite (three, two and one seater) with seating height of 37cm. *Folding tables with a height of 65cm are available for use with bar meals/drinks. * 42” plasma TV. *Coffee table and a table with lamp. Laundry *Laundry service can be arranged for those on longer stays, pick up and delivery are on Mon, Wed and Fri. Grounds and Garden *We have a enclosed garden which is NOT for guest use. *There is a small play park which is approximately 15 minuets walk from our guest house (please ask for directions). Additional Information *Hairdryers and irons (with ironing board) are available on request. *A fully automatic fire alarm system is in operation 24/7 which will be updated to confirm to today’s standards (January 2008) already booked. *Emergency lighting has been placed at key points to help with evacuation during a fire if the electricity were to fail. *Fire extinguishers are placed at key points around the guest house (for small fires. *A Guest comments book is on display in the reception area 24 hrs a day for comments/complaints. *Mobile phone reception is generally good. *We are able to use all external doors in need of evacuation, fire alarms ring continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment. *We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment (please let us know if ordered – telephone number below for hirers). *We are a totally no smoking building (smoking is allowed in the car park and bins are provided). *If you require a small fridge for medication/food then we can supply you we one. Larger items can be put in our main fridge on request (not available 24 hours).
